Using energy work in your spiritual practice

by | Jul 10, 2021 | Energy | 0 comments

In this article I will be discussing what energy work is, why you would want to use it in your life, and different techniques to start your energy work practice!

I think many assume that working with energy is only for “energy workers” or that you have to have a special gift to do energy work. This is a myth and totally not true! Everyone can use and work with energy because we are all subtle energetic beings.

We speak the language of energy, even though usually our programming has us thinking otherwise. So when we begin to understand energy better we can start to “read-the-room” so to speak, or take the temperature of the room. You suddenly start to receive intuitive hits about different situations or people and you begin to trust the information that you are receiving.

About Energy Workenergy work

There are many different modalities of energy work now, literally hundreds! There’s Reiki, Pranic Healing, Brennan just to name a tiny few. They each work in slightly different ways but its all using energy with the same goal of healing.

In addition to more formal energy work lineages, there’s many practices that the average person can do! Grounding is an excellent beginners practice because you are learning to mange your own energy.

There’s also techniques (that I will discuss a bit later in the article) that allow you to start to develop your intuition by using energy work.

Why you want to use energy work in your life

When you are reading energy, it’s like you have an internal lie detector. Not to use for shaming others or catching others in lies, but as a tool to connect to your intuition. For instance:

Have you ever been in a conversation with someone and what they’re saying is obviously not true of how they are feeling? It’s weird right? It’s like we were all taught to take everything at face value, that what is on the surface is the truth. Or what someone says is actually what they mean. Or how you act truly reflects your intentions. But when you start learning about energy, you understand that energy doesn’t lie. So now when I listen to someone speaking, I take into account what they are saying, but mostly I’m listening for resonance and the energy.

In addition to intuitive uses, having a clearing an grounding practice will help you with protecting and managing your own energy. This can help with feelings of heaviness anxiety or even depression. Also, if you’re an empath, you can learn to decipher what emotions and energy are yours and what you are holding for other people.

Ways to work with energyenergy work

1.Have a clearing, grounding and shielding practiceenergy hygeineenergy work

Grounding is lovely because it connects our energy to mother nature. By taking the time to be mindful of this, we allow our energy to blend with Gaia’s and in exchange, she balances out our energy. This helps us get out of our head and into our body.

Imagine a chord coming out of the base of your spine that dives deep into the earth, connecting to the core of the earth. Breathe the earth energy up through the chord and through your body.

Clearing begins the work of sweeping all of the energy that doesn’t belong to you away and out of your aura. Ask your angels to clear you of any energy that is a low vibration or that is unwanted or that does not belong to you (or all of the above).

Shielding keeps your aura intact and clear and protected from any incoming negative energy. I like to set the intention that only positive energy can come into my bubble. Close your eyes and imagine a ball of white light at the top of your head (the crown chakra). Breathe that ball of white light in through your crown and down to the base of your spine. Now on your exhale, breathe the white light out through all of your pores and out of your body, encasing your body and a beautiful white glow.

2. Observe

Much of learning energy is sitting with and observing it. Ask yourself questions like what does it feel like in this room? Do I feel good, bad, neutral about this space? Repeat these questions with your own energy. What does my energy feel like now? Is it big, small, buzzing or calm? You can practice this with other people, too. How does this person’s energy make me feel (not what they are saying or how they are acting-just their energy)? Does their energy make me feel safe and loved or does it make me feel anxious?

Have you ever walked into a room and you can feel that an argument just took place in there even though no one is speaking? Or maybe you’ve walked into a space and just known it was holy and sacred. Or even been in a space where something awful happened and maybe it makes your stomach hurt, gives you the creeps or gives you a headache?

It’s because we read energy. Spaces or rooms can hold the imprint of whatever happened there. So keep feeling into that energy and interview it. Let yourself experience it.

3. Take a Reiki class

Reiki works with the channels and meridians of the body, much like acupuncture. Taking a reiki class is wonderful because you begin to learn what these different frequencies feel like and how to use them. But also, when you receive your attunement (a spiritual blessing that allows you to use the energy frequencies) it aids in opening your channels even further which means you are going to become even more sensitive to energy. When you can harness this gift, you can use it for your benefit!

If you are feeling called to learn more about energy and reiki, I’d love to have you join me at my next Reiki level one class, Sunday October 10th from 10-2pm PST!
